متن کاملBreakdown of the cross-Kerr scheme for photon counting.
We show, in the context of single-photon detection, that an atomic three-level model for a transmon in a transmission line does not support the predictions of the nonlinear polarizability model known as the cross-Kerr effect. We show that the induced displacement of a probe in the presence or absence of a single photon in the signal field, cannot be resolved above the quantum noise in the probe...
متن کاملHighly enhanced steady-state optomechanical entanglement via cross-Kerr nonlinearity
Entanglement [1, 2] is one of the most intriguing feature of quantum mechanics, having myriads of potential applications in quantum information and communication [3]. So far, preparation and manipulation of entanglement has been successfully demonstrated in microscopic systems, such as atoms , photons, ions [4–6] etc. However, the validity of entanglement in the macroscopic realm is still a deb...
متن کاملQuantum control gates with weak cross-Kerr nonlinearity
In this paper, with the weak cross-Kerr nonlinearity, we first present a special experimental scheme called controlled-path gate with which the realization of all possible bipartite positive-operator-value measurements of two-photon polarization states may be nearly deterministic. Following the same technique, the realization of quantum control gates, including the controlled-NOT gate, Fredkin ...
متن کاملComplete quantum teleportation with a kerr nonlinearity
We present a scheme for the quantum teleportation of the polarization state of a photon employing a cross-Kerr medium. The experimental feasibility of the scheme is discussed and we show that, using the recently demonstrated ultraslow light propagation in cold atomic media, our proposal can be realized with presently available technology.
